Manor Hills was where RATA members gathered for RATA’s monthly Member Meeting on May 10. If you have never attended a RATA meeting, seriously, do yourself a favor; no matter who the host is, the food is always out of this world, the topics are current and informational and the atmosphere is charged with positive energy from all the inspiring people who form RATA. It was really nice to visit Manor Hills again and indulge spoilt in their delicious coffee and treats – just forget about your diet at RATA’s meetings.
I personally never miss a RATA Member Meeting, because when I leave there I am super charged to take my bulls by their horns, thanks to every single guest house owner and manager who make the effort to meet and inspire once a month.
Naturally our Manor Hills meeting was another hit single as Sumari van Dyk from Sumari Designs explained a bit about applications and how to apply it to our businesses. Yes, technology can be very confusing, but never fear when RATA is near because we will make sure that you know what to download. Let us know if you are interested as we would love to arrange a New Technology Workshop for RATA’s members.
Johan van Heerden from Integrated Financial Services (IFS) was an instant hit as he gave us Lindt choccies and then promised to sort out other scary things for us; taxes, accounting and auditing (shiver). Lucky for us, Integrated Financial Services is based in Rustenburg, (Protea Park) and they specialize in giving personal attention to smaller businesses. I know that I will definitely be knocking on their door soon. He will also have a special financial insert in RATA’s monthly newsletter from this month.
Thanks to Millicent Shai from Thaba Legae Guest Lodge, everybody at Manor Hills received the information from the recent Fedhasa workshop. This is what I call team work and another reason why you should take those 3 hours a month and attend RATA’s member meetings. How would you have known otherwise that the Immigration Act trumps the Protection of Privacy act, which means that should you ask a guest for their identification they cannot refuse. You should also check with your insurance what exactly they require from you, should you have to claim for guests who did the disappearing act. Remember to ensure that your process complies with the Consumer Protection Act – thank you Millicent.
Finally Susan and Chris Bosch presented their range of superior, branded, luxurious bathroom products. They supply luxurious shampoo, conditioner, body wash and body cream for the hospitality industry. Using them will definitely add some class to your establishment as their products are salon quality, eco friendly and you can promote your brand by putting your logo on each item. They also make up beautiful gift boxes, their recipes contain good things like rooibos extract and they are proudly South African. That personal touch without a lot of fuss!
After the meeting we all went our separate ways, but with new information to make running our businesses easier and with the knowledge that we are part of something bigger; that if you are a member of RATA there will always be somebody with good advice and a word of encouragement. Hope to see everybody at the next RATA meeting as we have an excellent theme!
